I Love This Country

You know what I love about this country?
The people. I love that from NY to LA, the country is full of so many different people, most of whom are here because somebody at some time decided to move to a totally new place and try to make a home for themselves. I love that you can experience the world in little ways all across this country - the food, the music, the languages, the cultures from all over, here in one place. I love that I never stop learning new things. I love the wide open spaces and the land we live on. I love the indigenous communities fighting to retain their autonomy and reclaim their prosperity. I love the communities that build each other up and the ones supporting each other. I love the uniquely American experience I’ve had.
I love my freedom of speech, something that needs to be protected like the unique thing it is.
And I know that my experience is a privileged one, informed by my ability to travel outside the US, a good education, and parents who raised me with empathy and wisdom. But that also means that I want everyone in the country to experience what I love about it. So today I went out and marched. And I’m leaving a list of links (thanks for curating, Elizabeth Barrial!) for you if you want to help build the same America with me.
